Abhimanyu Acharya is an architectural and urban designer. He specialises in the design of buildings, towns and cities using data-driven techniques of spatial analysis and forecasting. He is an Associate at Space Syntax and an Honorary Research Assistant at The Bartlett, University College London.

Abhi joined Space Syntax as an Intern in October 2012, becoming a Project Consultant in 2013 and an Associate in 2018. His experience includes complex, mixed-use masterplanning and urban design projects in the UK, the Middle East, China and the USA. A particular area of focus has been the regeneration of unplanned settlements in the Middle East and India.

Abhi studied architecture in India, where he was awarded his Bachelors in Architecture. He continued his studies at The Bartlett, UCL where he was awarded an MSc in Advanced Architectural Studies. His research focussed on the relationship between land use distribution and spatial layout and his Master’s thesis examined the pattern of development in satellite towns around New Delhi.

Prior to joining Space Syntax, Abhimanyu worked at Morphogenesis, a leading design firm based in New Delhi, India. Here he was involved in a range of projects including the design of schools, office buildings and townships, which contributed to his understanding of the relationship between space and society.
