Haruki Hoshii holds a Bachelor of Science in Social Sciences from the Institute of Education, University College London and a Master of Science in Space Syntax: Architecture and Cities from the Bartlett, University College London, where he was awarded a distinction.
Haruki’s BSc dissertation used statistical analysis to explore associations between the built environment, loneliness and social isolation among older people in England. He pursued his interest in the relationships between the urban environment and social phenomena in his MSc, examining how urban transport infrastructure impacts on spatial layouts and community severance using time series and quantitative approaches.
Haruki joined Space Syntax in November 2021 as a Consultant after working for Space Syntax Japan as an intern.
He has recently been involved in the Masterplan Design Review in Dublin, a multi-level spatial layout analysis of a high rise building in Hamburg, and an Urban Baseline and Design Impact Analysis for a mixed-use development in London.
