Lina Zhao joined Space Syntax in October 2022 as a Consultant and was promoted to Senior Consultant in 2024. She specialises in spatial analysis and design strategy for urban and mixed-use developments across the UK, Ireland, Europe, and the Middle East.
Lina has delivered a wide range of projects, from urban baseline studies and design impact assessments to masterplanning and public realm design. She brings a data-driven approach to spatial modelling, pedestrian and cyclist movement analysis, and forecasting — deepening the understanding of human experience in urban environments and informing planning and design decisions at both local and international scales.
Lina holds an MSc in Space Syntax: Architecture & Cities from The Bartlett, UCL, awarded with Distinction. She also holds a BFA an MFA in Public Art and Urban Design from the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA), China, where she graduated as an Outstanding Graduate. Prior to joining Space Syntax, she worked as a public art designer at CAFA’s Public Art Institution(CAPA) in Beijing, leading public art and urban design projects at urban scale and on complex buildings from concept design through to construction completion.
