Po Nien Chen joined Space Syntax in November 2019 as a Consultant and was promoted to Senior Consultant in 2022.
His primary focus is on the development of the Integrated Urban Model (IUM) for the UK as well as other regions and cities worldwide. Po specialises in GeoDatabase modelling and spatial analysis, with particular expertise in multimodal network analysis and exploring the influence of transport infrastructure on urban systems.
Po holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Urban and Transport Analysis and a Master of Research in Spatial Design, both from The Bartlett School of Architecture, University College London. He also earned a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from the Polytechnic Institute of New York University, USA and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from National Chiao Tung University, Taiwan.
In addition to his professional practice, Po has experience in both design and education. Prior to joining Space Syntax, he worked as an architect and interior designer in Taiwan. He also worked as a Senior Postgraduate Teaching Assistant at The Bartlett for the MSc/MRes in Space Syntax programme from 2018 to 2023.
