Space Syntax offers internships in our London studio to students who need to complete such a placement as part of their university course or degree. Interns follow a programme of project-based training in Space Syntax theory and technology.
The internship programme offers a unique opportunity to experience our evidence-based approach and to work on a wide range of projects across cities and regions, property developments, buildings and estates. Interns join our project teams, being directed by a senior member of staff and mentored by one of our consultants. They must nevertheless be self-motivated and able to work alone. Together with their director and mentor, they will agree a plan of work at the outset and will be expected to report on their progress on a regular basis, culminating in a presentation to colleagues at the end of the internship.
Applications are welcome throughout the year. Please send your CV including samples of your work/study, cover letter and a statement addressing the following questions:
1. your particular academic, industry, or research interests
2. why you have chosen to apply to Space Syntax
3. your computer skills proficiency e.g. CAD, GIS, PowerPoint
We will also require documentation from your place of study to confirm your student status and the training requirements of your course.
We encourage students to investigate funding opportunities such as the European Commission’s Leonardo da Vinci programme and the British Council’s Erasmus scheme.
