Artem Stepanov holds a Bachelor of Arts in Design of Architectural Space from Saint Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering, Russia and a Master of Science in Space Syntax: Architecture and Cities from The Bartlett, University College London.
Artem joined Space Syntax in 2022 as an Associate. Prior to joining Space Syntax, Artem led consulting teams in urban design and planning projects across Russia, the UK and Saudi Arabia and addressed issues of spatial and socio-economic sustainability through the study of urbanisation dynamics at various scales and in different contexts. This work has afforded him extensive experience in bringing together research and development practices.
Artem’s research interests include gated urban developments, spatial sustainability and socio-economic performance in post-Soviet urban environments. He approaches contemporary design challenges with a mix of tools from a wide variety of disciplines. As an urban strategist, Artem helps public and private parties to foster cooperation and to enhance competitive capacities.
