Cristina Vanegas is an Associate at Space Syntax, having joined the company as a Consultant in 2019. With a passion for the intersection of spatial data and design, she brings expertise in spatial analysis and design strategy for urban spaces, mixed-use developments and building projects across the UK, Ireland and Europe. Her approach combines data-driven design with a focus on uncovering key patterns and relationships in each project, while also expanding the understanding of the human experiences that lie beneath the data.
Cristina’s interests are diverse, ranging from integrating analytical tools in the design process at multiple scales to exploring how space can foster creative, productive and sustainable environments. She is particularly dedicated to examining the relationship between urban structures and natural elements, such as green and blue infrastructure, and understanding how these elements contribute to social connections within communities.
Cristina holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture from Universidad de Cuenca in Ecuador, a Master’s Degree in Theory and Practice of Architecture from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia in Spain and a second Master’s in Space Syntax: Architecture & Cities from The Bartlett School of Architecture, University College London.
