Cristina Vanegas studied Architecture in Ecuador where she was awarded her Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture in 2008. She has a master’s degree in the Theory and Practice of Architecture from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia in Spain (2011) and completed her second master’s degree in Space Syntax: Architecture & Cities at The Bartlett, University College London in 2019.

Cristina started an internship at Space Syntax in 2018 and joined the company as a Consultant in January 2019, becoming a Senior Consultant in 2023. She has undertaken spatial modelling, movement and urban design analysis for mixed-use developments and urban regeneration projects in the United Kingdom, Ireland and India.

Her research interests focus on the integration of analytical tools in the design process at various scales as well as developing an understanding of the ways in which natural elements can be better integrated in urban design and planning. In the same vein, her Space Syntax master’s dissertation investigated the spatial networks along small rivers in London.

Prior to joining Space Syntax, Cristina worked as an architect in the design and BIM modelling of residential and commercial developments. She has also lectured at the Architecture School of the University of Azuay in Ecuador.
