Rita Estephan joined Space Syntax in October 2022 as a Project Consultant, and is now an Associate at the company.

At Space Syntax, Rita has been involved in projects across the United Kingdom and the Middle East, varying in scale from the analysis of customer behaviour patterns at the architectural level to work on the design and evaluation of urban planning and design strategies.

Rita holds a Master of Science in Space Syntax: Architecture & Cities from The Bartlett School of Architecture, University College London, and a Bachelor of Architecture from the Lebanese American University, Lebanon. Her academic interests focus on exploring human behaviour in architectural and urban spaces. In her bachelor’s dissertation, she studied the impact of architecture on the prison system, highlighting the role of design and movement in rehabilitation. For her master’s thesis, she investigated how an innovation district influences urban regeneration in surrounding areas with diverse socio-economic backgrounds, focusing on spatial linkages and social encounters.

She published a paper at the Space Syntax Symposium in 2024 titled ‘Gambling on Visibility‘, which examines how the placement of games within a casino layout influences customer behaviour.

Before joining Space Syntax, Rita worked as a licensed architect in Lebanon, gaining experience in architectural design, interior architecture, and lighting design.
